Instructions:
Put your feet in the normal start position.
Then
turn your right foot to the side so that the toe is facing out and the heel
is facing towards the middle of your left foot. Lift the heel of the right
foot and put your weight on your right foot on the ball of your foot. Now you
will notice that it is much easier to move the left foot around with your weight
off of it.
So
slide the left foot away from the right foot and turn it out like you did the
right foot, only move the left foot about six inches. Now put the heel of your
right foot down and lift the heel of your left foot, switching your weight
from your right foot to your left foot. Now you can move your flat right foot.
This
part can get a little confusing now. You’re going to slide your right
root in front of your left. As soon as you start sliding it, turn the toes
of your right foot toward your left side so that when your right root is lined
up in front of the left your heels are about two or three inches apart and
your feet make a slight V.
Now
for another confusing part. Put down your left heel and lift up your right
heel, however as you raise the right heel swing it up and over the left foot
so that your right heel is suspended over your left toes. Now shift your weight
forward so that your weight is on your right toes.
Now
just slide your flat left foot to the left about a foot. Notice now, you are
back in the first position. So just keep repeating this.
Notes:
Do this slowly at first to get the rhythm but note that switches with the heels
and starting of moving the feet are not so robotic, they are smooth and continuous
with no stops. However the most common error when anyone tries to do this fast
is to slide a foot who’s heel is up. This is the largest mistake. As
you get faster you must become very conscious of this.
